Apple Buys Beats for $3 Billion
Apple wants to regain the beat in its music business, which is under attack from many upstarts. Last Wednesday, the company said that it would purchase Beats Electronics for $3 billion to bolster its music business, which has lost some of its mojo, as streaming-music services encroach on iTunes.
CNBC Stops Offering Nielsen Ratings Guarantees During the Day
CNBC is no longer using Nielsen ratings during business hours because it believes that its primary business day viewing is done in offices, and therefore not monitored by Nielsen. The company will instead offer guarantees based on its own internal measurement of ad deliveries.
Miller Lite Enlists Twitter for First-Ever User-Generated Commercial–Incentivizes Sharing with Prizes
Miller Lite began a summer campaign titled “Show Us Your Miller Time.” This campaign asks consumers to follow the brand on Twitter and submit their photos. The commercial featuring fan photos will roll out on August 15.
